We're almost full term!

We had a weekly OB appointment today. Everything looks good! I gained one pound in the last two weeks bringing my weight gain to about 15 pounds total. The fundal height measures at 34 cm, which is right on track. Additionally, he told us that I am already 2cm dilated & halfway effaced! Although this really means nothing in terms of when the baby arrives, I'm glad to know that my body is cooperating and starting to get ready for her to be here with us :) We go back next week!

Week 35 Update

Weekly Update:

How far along?: 35 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 14.5 - just got weighed on today at the OB appt.

Maternity Clothes?: Pants - Absolutely, Shirts - again, absolutely.

Stretch Marks?: A ton :(

Sleep: Better some days than others. Naps are pretty much a must if I want to stay awake past 9pm.

Best moment this week: Got a few presents & baby packages in the mail. Getting things besides bills is always an exciting moment!

Movement: Basically all the time still. Sometimes it can even be painful and I push the hand/arm/leg back into my stomach area.

Food cravings: Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies

Gender: GIRL!!

Labor Signs: none, thankfully

Belly Button in or out?: Depends on the baby's position, but normally flat or out.

What I miss: My non-maternity winter clothes.

What I am looking forward to: Being able to sit up/stand up off the floor without assistance.

Weekly Wisdom: Snow Blizzards + Being 8 months Pregnant = Stay at Home.

Milestones: Made a complete "shopping list" of what we still need for her. Hopefully we can get everything ordered/purchased and crossed off the list soon!

Week 34 Update

Weekly Update:

How far along?: 34 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 13.5 - I didn't gain any weight between my last OB appointments

Maternity Clothes?: Pants - Absolutely, Shirts - yes. My old navy maternity order just arrived and it will be nice to have a few things that fit better for the next month!

Stretch Marks?: A ton

Sleep: A lot better than it was a few weeks ago. I don't need to wake up and turn over as often anymore.

Best moment this week: The OB said everything was perfect! It's great to hear good news when we go in there.

Movement: All the time. The OB said she had turned her head down, but I'm pretty sure she still moves and lays side to side sometimes. My stomach has visibly changed shapes like crazy all this week.

Food cravings: Nothing in particular

Gender: GIRL!!

Labor Signs: none, thankfully

Belly Button in or out?: Still flat

What I miss: Being able to paint my toenails

What I am looking forward to: People not treating me like I am handicapped.

Weekly Wisdom: You have to decide which pregnancy precautions you want to follow for yourself. Research them carefully, but if you were to follow all of them you'll be isolated to your house, hopped up on vitamins, and eating organic meals that always include some warm meat. Not my idea of a good 9 months...

Milestones: Less than 40 days until she is expected to arrive! We're in the homestretch and almost considered full term!

Weeks 33-36

According to thebump.com
(http://pregnant.thebump.com/pregnancy/pregnancy-tools/slideshow/how-big-is-baby.aspx?page=22)

Your Baby: Month 8

Baby’s senses are continuing to improve -- when light peeks in through your (extremely) stretched belly, those tiny eyelids and irises blink and dilate. And, baby can now recognize and react to simple songs… time to start practicing your lullabies! Growth (at least inside your womb) is starting to slow, and you may notice baby descend into your pelvis at the end of this month.

Short appointments are a good thing!

Today we had our second to last 2 week OB appointment. Basically, we sat in the waiting room for over 20 minutes for a 5 minute appointment. While this is frustrating, they only had good news! My blood pressure, glucose test, and baby's heart beat were all perfect! I also hadn't gained any weight and had no concerns. Basically, no news is good news & we hope to keep it that way. The next appointment is December 21st and after that they will be once a week. It's getting closer to the baby's arrival! Yay!

Name Hint #4

How far along?: 33 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 13.5 as far as I know -- going to the OB on Tuesday so we'll find out for sure!

Maternity Clothes?: Pants - Absolutely, Shirts - yes. I got a great deal on Old Navy Maternity Clothes & can't wait for them to arrive!

Stretch Marks?: A ton

Sleep: Its been getting better, but I think thats just because I'm exhausted and ignore the discomfort.

Best moment this week: Baby Shower #2 - we got lots a great stuff and most of the bigger items. We're getting more prepared for her to arrive each day :)

Movement: A little less this week - perhaps she is getting too big to move much.

Food cravings: HotCakes Focaccia Bread

Gender: GIRL!!

Labor Signs: none, thankfully

Belly Button in or out?: Flat - it has basically disappeared.

What I miss: My old clothes :(

What I am looking forward to: People not treating me like I am handicapped.

Weekly Wisdom: Afternoon naps are the best. They really improve your mood and help you feel better :)

Milestones: Ordered my first batch of maternity clothes -- I had purchased some on craigslist, but only a few pieces. The belly has gotten big enough that I cannot ignore it and wear my reg clothes much anymore.

Total weight gain/loss: 13.5 so far!

Maternity Clothes?: Pants - Absolutely, Shirts - yes & wearing some of Dyl's clothes for now

Stretch Marks?: A ton

Sleep: Not for very long periods of time. Sleeping with a pillow between my legs helps, but not too much.

Best moment this week: Baby Shower #2 - we got lots a great stuff and most of the bigger items. We're getting more prepared for her to arrive each day :)

Movement: All the time - I can see it most of the time too.

Food cravings: Taco Bell

Gender: GIRL!!

Labor Signs: none, thankfully

Belly Button in or out?: Flat most of the time, but sometimes its an outie.

What I miss: Being able to order a drink when I'm out to dinner at a restaurant.

What I am looking forward to: Wearing my old clothes again.

Weekly Wisdom: Stretch marks are usually hereditary. If you're mom had them, you probably will too. There are no creams that are going to take care of it. Just hope for the best after the baby is born :)

Milestones: Less than 2 months to go!

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Week 31 Update

Weekly Update:

How far along?: 31 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 13.5 so far!
Maternity Clothes?: Pants - Most Def,  Shirts - Starting to wear some of Dyl's clothes for now ;)
Stretch Marks?: Too many - the OB even commented on them this week :(
Sleep: Difficult & painful at best. Sleeping with a pillow between my legs helps some, but not too much.
Best moment this week: Being given a lot of baby stuff. We now have lots of baseline essentials and are beginning to get the baby's things organized.
Movement: She moves a lot and I can get her to move on command. My friends & family have been able to see my stomach move too.
Food cravings: Raspberry Walnut Bars from HotCakes
Gender: GIRL!!
Labor Signs: none, thankfully
Belly Button in or out?: Flat most of the time. So its just disappeared some. haha.
What I miss: Pepsi
What I am looking forward to: Sleeping on my tummy. Recently its been really difficult to sleep for any period of time at night. I cannot wait until I can sleep and turn over again in my sleep!
Weekly Wisdom: Pregnant people are not broken or handicapped. Please don't assume that they cannot lift anything, stand for periods of time, or do things for themselves. If I need help or cannot do something alone, I will ask. Don't just assume I can't do anything, its very irritating to be treated like something is wrong with you.
Milestones: Started working a lot more lately at HotCakes & been able to stand for 8 hour periods of time. Although this isn't a pregnancy milestone, I'm considering it an accomplishment :)

Name Hint #2

So after my baby shower...we took the suggestion of posting a clue about the baby's name once a week. Clearly, we will neither confirm or deny any guesses but you can have fun trying to figure it out. After she is born we will be happy to announce her name to everyone & we hope you like it as much as we do :)

Hint #2

Her first name is long (2 syllables), but we plan to call her by a nickname.

Week 30 Update

Weekly Update & Side Profile Photo:

How far along? 30 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 13 so far!
Maternity Clothes?: Pants - Most Def,  Shirts - I make a lot of my pre-pregnancy shirts work
Stretch Marks?: Too many :(
Sleep: Difficult & painful at best. Hopefully next week the pain at least subsides.
Best moment this week: Dylan's niece Piper Quinn Kelly was born 7lbs 6ozs on November 15, 2009 at 5:26am!
Movement: She moves ALL the time. I can even see my stomach move with her most of the time now.
Food cravings: Taco Bell
Gender: GIRL!!
Labor Signs: none, thankfully
Belly Button in or out?: Just depends on where the baby is sitting.
What I miss: Caffeinated Raspberry Mochas
What I am looking forward to: Getting the baby's room organized. Dyl & I still have stuff in there and its going to be tough to find places for it all.
Weekly Wisdom: Everything at the store that is meant for a baby adds at least 10% onto the price. Look and see if you can get some of the same things (like for the nursery) in the non-baby areas of the store. It might be cheaper.
Milestones: Had my first baby shower. Thanks to everyone who came! We got a ton of really cute & also useful things :)

Maternity Clothes?: Pants - Most Def, Shirts - I make a lot of my pre-pregnancy shirts work

Stretch Marks?: More and more each day - those creams don't really help much :(

Sleep: Getting worse...Now putting a pillow between my legs is a must.

What I miss: This week it has been Margaritas

What I am looking forward to: Painting the nursery & having that project out of the way.

Milestones: Week 30 -- only 10 more to go!!

29 Week Doctor's Appointment

Wednesday we had our 29 week OB appt. Everything looks great! Our appointments are now every two weeks instead of each month which should be fun...ha. They also weighed me and I've only gained 13lbs so far! In other news...the measurements they took show that she is the size of a 30 week baby so we should meet her before her expected due date. Who knows though, she will join us whenever she is ready!

Weeks 29-32

According to thebump.com
(http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/blogs/3rdtrimester/pages/weeks-29-32-month-7-squash.aspx?r=0)

Weeks 29-32 (month 7): Squash
Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin. (Have those kicks and jabs to the ribs tipped you off yet?) Baby is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though -- as you’ve also probably noticed -- they don’t necessarily coincide with your own. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments.

Week 27 Update

Weekly Update:
**This one has a few new questions that I saw on another Mommy Blog**

How far along? 27 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 10 - only gained 3 this month! Very exciting :)

Maternity Clothes?: Pants - Most of the time, Shirts - Not Yet

Stretch Marks?: A few -- but most of them are in the same spot on the side of my stomach. The baby must spend a lot of time pushing and laying there.

Sleep: Painful -- starting to take Tylenol 8 hour each night. Hopefully this will help.

Best moment this week: Our fall time fun weekend -- pumpkin carving, apple picking at Carter's Mountain, apple cider, apple donuts, and pretty fall views :)

Movement: Becoming very apparent when I'm trying to sleep - at least she is moving enough to where I don't ever have to be worried.

Food cravings: Strawberry Milk...its delicious

Gender: GIRL!!

Labor Signs: none

Belly Button in or out?: Still in - just barely

What I miss: Soda - I've been keeping caffenated sodas out of my life. Its tough.

What I am looking forward to: getting the results of the Glucose Tolerance Test -- having Gestational Diabetes would be awful...

Weekly Wisdom: Don't touch pregnant women's stomachs - its just rude.

Milestones: Got my seasonal flu shot & the gestational diabetes test today...trying to protect myself & the baby in any way possible.

Doctor's Appointment

Yesterday I went to the doctor for my 26 week check up. Everything looks great! I've only gained 3 lbs in the last month, which is surprising bc I feel like I've gained 50lbs. They did measurements and say it came out it 27 cm which is exactly on target. Basically, we're still on track for the January 23 due date & everything looks perfect.

In the next week I have to get the Glucose Tolerence Test (which is going to be yucky) and my next appointment is in 3 weeks. After that, I'll start going every two weeks. Meaning, lotttssss of doctor's appointments are in my future.

Other than that, everything looks great :)

Week 26 Update

Weekly Update:
**This one has a few new questions that I saw on another Mommy Blog**

How far along? 26 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 15ish? I will find out Thursday at the Doctor's Appt

Maternity Clothes?: Pants - Most of the time, Shirts - Not Yet :)

Stretch Marks?: Some, but nothing too crazy yet

Sleep: Pretty tough - I'm considering getting one of those fancy pillows, but I'm still not sure it would help.

Best moment this week: Being stopped at the gate of the JMU Football game. The woman asked "Did they check your coat? It looks like you've got something in there." My response, "Yeah, its a baby"....She looked pretty embarrassed, haha

Movement: Starting to get stronger - I can't imagine how uncomfortable this can get in the next 14 weeks

Food cravings: Nothing really - right now nothing is appealing to me

Gender: GIRL!!

Labor Signs: none

Belly Button in or out?: Still in...for now

What I miss: This weekend made me miss regular JMU times --- it was very different going back for the day

What I am looking forward to: Baby showers! I really want my friends to see our house & this is the perfect time

Weekly Wisdom: Be mindful what you say to pregnant women. http://bit.ly/G5EBR

Milestones: Less than 100 days until Baby Silverman is set to arrive!!

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Take your best shot!

We started this poll to get some involvement from family and friends. You put in your guess of what day & time she will be born, along with your guess for the baby's weight and length. After the baby is born we'll be sure to let you know who won! It's just something to have fun with :)

Week 25 Update

Weekly Update & Side Profile Photo:

How far along? 25 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 15ish? We don't have a scale so I won't know until next week at the Doctor's Appt

Sleep: Still painful - I'm sleepy, but not able to get much sleep!

Best moment this week: Being given baby clothes! They're sooooo cute :)

Movement: Slowing down some, but she responds to Dylan and I touching my stomach (which we think is cool)

Food cravings: Strawberry Flavored Milk

Gender: GIRL!!

Belly Button in or out?: Still in -- but not for long, I'm sure...

What I miss: Having lots of options for clothing. I have so many clothes that I can't wear right now :(

What I am looking forward to: Washing all the cloth diapers, folding them, and putting them away in the dresser.

Weekly Wisdom: The flu is unavoidable -- I barely leave the house, but Dylan got it so I was still exposed. Just wash your hands, call your doctor, and get some Tamiflu to prevent the flu from infecting you too! There's no reason to be afraid of it, just be aware.

Milestones: Signed up for a baby class and birthing class!

Weeks 25-28

According to thebump.com (http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/blogs/2ndtrimester/pages/weeks-25-28-month-6-eggplant.aspx?r=0)
Weeks 25-28 (month 6): Eggplant

Let your spouse put an ear to your belly -- he might be able to pick up baby's heartbeat (no stethoscope required). Inside the womb, the formation of tiny capillaries is giving baby a healthy pink glow. Baby's also soaking up your antibodies, getting the immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and baby will soon perfect the blink -- perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes.

Suggestions??

Currently, we're trying to come up with baby names. We had one ready to go if the baby was a boy, but since the UltraSound says we're having a girl, its back to the drawing board.

Sooooo we're asking for suggestions! Leave a comment on this post to let us know what name you suggest. Even if you only want to suggest a first name or middle name just let us know which you had the name in mind for.

Just remember to keep an eye on her initials! We don't want them saying anything crazy :)

Week 24 Update

Weekly Update:

How far along? 24 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 10ish

Sleep: Waking up A LOT during the night. Rolling over in bed is pretty painful.

Gender: GIRL!!

Belly Button in or out?: Still in -- and slowly getting more shallow

What I miss: Being able to take cold medication :(

What I am looking forward to: Painting the nursery

Milestones: Now we're at 24 weeks the gestational survival rate is over 50% -- while kinda weird to think about, its nice to know that we're past a halfway point.

Monday, September 28, 2009

Milestones: Found out we're having a girl, put all the nursery furniture together, and went to Babies R Us and Target to sign up for Baby Registries :)

Ultra Sound Baby Pics

All of these were taken September 23rd - we're in week 22! I know most of these look like nothing or just a strange object, but I thought I would share anyway :)

This one "shows" she's a girl - we don't see what they're talking about specifically, but the doc and technician seemed positive

A photo of her leg - surprising that its actually clear!

Leg #2

Upper body shot but she's covering her face with her hands

Another upper body shot to view her arms

Baby upside down. Photo shows her spine and brief outlines of her legs and head

.

A little bit of everythings shot - arms, legs, head and umbilical cord

Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice....

...that's what our baby is made of!!!

This morning we went in for the "big ultrasound" appointment. The technician and doctor both said we're having a girl! In other news, the real reason they have the ultrasound is to check on the baby's development. She seems perfect! We saw her arms, legs, heart, brain, etc. Unfortunately, we couldn't really see her face because she was hiding it behind her hands. The technician said she was very "wiggly" and didn't really stay still --- I totally agree with that. Basically, we'll have a daddy's little girl on our hands - I'm already predicting it. Mostly, we're just excited that she's healthy and things are going well. We'll post some of the pictures soon!

22 Week OB Appointment

Today we met with Dr. Arnold at Jefferson OB/GYN. Each time we go to the doctor's office we will meet with a different practicioner so we can meet all the partners before Baby Silverman's birthday. He read the results of the urine analysis, initial ultrasound, blood tests and said they all look great. I was also very pleased to learn that my blood type is A+, therefore no RhoGam shots will be necessary during the pregnancy.

According to the Ultrasound and their counting, we recieved another possible due date of January 18th. Essentially, the Baby will come sometime in January or Early February, anytime it's ready. Everything seems to be going well and we are going for the "big ultrasound", to hopefully see if Baby Silverman is a boy or girl, this Wednesday at 10:15am. We're very excited to find out, and we'll keep everyone posted :)

Weeks 22-24

We have a doctor's appointment on Monday and hope to find out if Baby Silverman is a boy or a girl. Here is what the baby looks like/will look like in the next couple weeks. We are currently in week 22.

According to thebump.com (http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/blogs/2ndtrimester/pages/weeks-21-24-month-5-papaya.aspx?r=0&MsdVisit=1)

Weeks 22-24 (months 5): Papaya

Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.

Weekly Update:

How far along? 22 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 10ish

Sleep: Not going so well - rolling over in bed is beginning to be very painful. We'll talk to the Dr. about this on Monday.

Best moment this week: Finding out that we're not high risk afterall.

Movement: Some flutters - very sporadic

Food cravings: still Pickles

Gender: Hoping to find out on Monday!

Belly Button in or out?: Still in.

What I miss: The way my clothes used to fit me :(

What I am looking forward to: Finding out if the Baby is a boy or girl!

Weekly Wisdom: Starbucks makes everything in decaf :)

Milestones: Had our Nurse Educator appointment this week and got blood work done. This Monday we will find out the results and hopefully if Baby Silverman is a boy or girl!

Week 21

It's crazy to think that so much can happen over the course of a week. The slight weight gain and looking pregnant is pretty crazy. I love reading the fruit analogy online to see the size of the baby each week.
According to thebump.com (http://pregnant.thebump.com/pregnancy/second-trimester/articles/your-pregnancy-week-21.aspx), the following information is now true about Baby Silverman:
Baby's now the size of a banana!

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion, and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, if baby is a girl, her womb is now stocked up with her lifetime supply of six million eggs (the number will drop to around one million by birth).

I've also seen this weekly questionnaire on other baby blogs....I'll update it every week so you can know how we're doing!

How far along? 21 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 10ish

Sleep: Pretty good. I am def beginning to feel more tired lately though.

Best moment this week: Finding great stuff on Craigslist for the Baby. It's amazing to get gently used things for such a great deal :)

Movement: Some flutters - mostly in the evenings.

Food cravings: Pickles and also Ice Cream (separately of course)

Gender: Hoping to find out in the next week!

Belly Button in or out?: Def still in.

What I miss: Pepsi & Turkey Sandwiches.

What I am looking forward to: We have a Nurse Educator appointment this Thursday. Hopefully we'll get some good information.

Weekly Wisdom: The 'Be Band' from Target makes clothes "fit" a lot longer.

Milestones: Got furniture for the nursery and a highchair!
